Lovina's signature experience is heading out on a small outrigger boat before dawn to watch wild dolphins surface and play in the calm sea, with the sunrise behind the mountains. It's an early start (around 5:30–6 am) and sightings are natural — not guaranteed — but on a good morning pods of dozens appear. Choose a responsible operator that keeps a respectful distance rather than chasing the pods.
Lovina's beaches are black volcanic sand with a gentle, reef-protected sea — good for easy swimming and very un-crowded. The town's dolphin-statue landmark marks the main beach. Evenings are for a drink on the sand as the sun drops; the north-facing coast gives long, soft sunsets.
A short drive west, the Banjar hot springs (Air Panas Banjar) are a beautifully landscaped set of warm, sulphur pools in the jungle, with carved stone spouts to sit under. It's one of North Bali's loveliest easy outings — relaxing, scenic and cheap.

The calm north coast is good for gentle snorkelling straight off the boat or beach, and serious divers head a little west to Menjangan Island in the West Bali National Park — one of Bali's top wall-dive and snorkel sites, with pristine coral and great visibility.
