Kuta Lombok in 3 days: the perfect itinerary

A surf lesson, beach-hopping the turquoise bays, a Merese Hill sunset, Pink Beach and Sasak culture — southern Lombok in three days.

Kuta Lombok's highlights are spread along a gorgeous coast, so three days lets you surf, beach-hop and see the culture without rushing. Day one is surf and the town's beaches, day two beach-hopping and a sunset hill, day three Pink Beach and a Sasak village. Here's the plan.

The plan: Day 1 a surf lesson at Selong Belanak and its beach. Day 2 beach-hop Tanjung Aan and Mawun, then sunset from Merese Hill. Day 3 Pink Beach with snorkelling, and a Sasak village (Sade) on the way back.

Day 1 — Surf & Selong Belanak

Catch your first waves

  • Morning: a beginner surf lesson at Selong Belanak.
  • Midday: lunch at a beach club on the crescent bay.
  • Afternoon: more surf, or relax on the soft sand.
  • Evening: dinner back in Kuta town.

The turquoise bays

  • Morning: swim and laze at calm, pale-sand Tanjung Aan.
  • Midday: the horseshoe cove of Mawun.
  • Sunset: walk up Merese Hill for 360° views over the bays.
Day 3 — Pink Beach & Sasak culture

Further afield

  • Day trip: east to Pink Beach (Tangsi) with snorkelling stops.
  • Culture: a traditional Sasak village such as Sade.
  • Or: a boat session at the Gerupuk reef breaks for surfers.

Practical tips

Frequently asked questions

Is 3 days enough for Kuta Lombok?
Three days is ideal — one for surfing and the main beaches, one for beach-hopping Tanjung Aan, Mawun and a Merese Hill sunset, and one for Pink Beach and a Sasak village. Surfers often stay longer, but three days covers the highlights at a relaxed pace.
What is the best way to spend 3 days in Kuta Lombok?
Day one: a surf lesson at Selong Belanak and its beach. Day two: beach-hop Tanjung Aan and Mawun, then sunset from Merese Hill. Day three: Pink Beach with snorkelling, and a Sasak village like Sade on the way back.
Can you combine Kuta Lombok with the Gili Islands?
Yes — the Gilis are off Lombok's northwest coast, reached by boat, so many travellers pair Kuta Lombok's surf and beaches with a few laid-back days on the Gilis, often within a wider Bali–Lombok trip.
