Kintamani packs Bali's biggest mountain drama into a small area, so two days is plenty: one for the sunrise summit and the hot springs, one for the views, the temple and the coffee. Here's how to spend them — whether you sleep on the rim or commute up from Ubud.
The plan:Day 1 the pre-dawn Mt Batur sunrise trek, then the Toya Bungkah hot springs and a lakeside lunch. Day 2 breakfast at the Penelokan viewpoint, Ulun Danu Batur temple, a coffee plantation and a Lake Batur boat.
Day 1 — Summit & springs
Up before dawn
3–4 am: set off on the guided Mt Batur sunrise trek.
Sunrise: the summit view over the caldera, lake and distant Agung.
Late morning: descend, then soak in the Toya Bungkah hot springs.
Lunch: a lakeside warung, then rest — it was an early start.

Day 2 — Views, temple & coffee
Take it slow
Morning: breakfast with the caldera view at Penelokan.
Culture: the Ulun Danu Batur temple on the rim.
Midday: a Kintamani coffee plantation tasting.
Afternoon: a boat on Lake Batur, or the drive on toward your next stop.
Getting around: a private driver is easiest for the rim loop — see getting around Bali.
Frequently asked questions
Is 2 days enough for Kintamani?
More than enough — one day for the Mt Batur sunrise trek and the hot springs, one for the caldera viewpoint, a coffee plantation and Lake Batur. Many people even do the highlights as a single long day trip from Ubud.
What is the best way to spend 2 days in Kintamani?
Day one: the pre-dawn Mt Batur trek, then the Toya Bungkah hot springs and a lakeside lunch. Day two: breakfast at the Penelokan viewpoint, Ulun Danu Batur temple, a coffee tasting and a Lake Batur boat.
Can you do Kintamani as a day trip from Ubud?
Yes — Ubud is 1–1.5 h away, and sunrise-trek operators pick up in the small hours and return by late morning. A night in Kintamani mainly buys a caldera-view hotel and a slower pace.
