Best time to visit Bali

When should you go to Bali? Everything about seasons, weather, crowds and prices.

The best time to visit Bali is the dry season from April through October. But you can have a wonderful trip outside that window too. Below is what to expect per period in terms of weather, crowds and price.

Dry season (April–October)

This is the classic high season: plenty of sunshine, low humidity and the best time for beaches and islands. July and August are the busiest and most expensive. The shoulder periods April/May and September/October offer the best balance of weather, quiet and price — often the smartest choice.

Wet season (November–March)

In the rainy season Bali is greener, quieter and better value. The showers often come briefly in the afternoon; mornings are frequently sunny. Ideal if you want to avoid the crowds and stay flexible. January is the wettest month.

Quick month-by-month guide

Best time by activity

Surfing: the west coast (Uluwatu, Canggu) is best from May to September. Diving & snorkelling: good year-round; manta rays off Nusa Penida are often best in the dry season. Rice fields at their greenest: towards the end of the wet season.
