The best time to visit Bali is the dry season from April through October. But you can have a wonderful trip outside that window too. Below is what to expect per period in terms of weather, crowds and price.

Add it in the trip planner →This is the classic high season: plenty of sunshine, low humidity and the best time for beaches and islands. July and August are the busiest and most expensive. The shoulder periods April/May and September/October offer the best balance of weather, quiet and price — often the smartest choice.
In the rainy season Bali is greener, quieter and better value. The showers often come briefly in the afternoon; mornings are frequently sunny. Ideal if you want to avoid the crowds and stay flexible. January is the wettest month.
Surfing: the west coast (Uluwatu, Canggu) is best from May to September. Diving & snorkelling: good year-round; manta rays off Nusa Penida are often best in the dry season. Rice fields at their greenest: towards the end of the wet season.
